Port Hope Police – Setting Off Fireworks Results In Man’s Arrest

A 57 year old Port Hope man is facing charges after Port Hope Police were called to the Lake Street area after a report of someone setting off fireworks.

Shortly after 11:00pm on July 4 th Port Hope Police officers located a group of people down by the lake at the east end of Lake Street.

Fireworks were being held and shot over the water.

One man became belligerent with Police Officers when advised of the by-law prohibiting fireworks, open fires and the provincial legislation regarding consuming liquor in a public place.

The belligerent behavior continued and Police Officers arrested the man for being intoxicated in a public place.

The man struggled with Police during the arrest however he was eventually taken into custody.

Patrick Skiffington is charged with resisting arrest, breach of probation and being intoxicated in a public area. He appears in court in September.
