Habitat for Humanity Northumberland Reopens Restore for In-Person Shopping

In Community

The Habitat for Humanity Northumberland ReStore has been closed to the public since March 17, 2020 but on Tuesday June 2nd the ReStore will be reopening its doors for in-person shopping.
“We are very happy we are able to reopen our doors,” says Meaghan Macdonald, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity Northumberland. “We have spent the last couple of weeks preparing the ReStore so we can ensure our shopping experience is safe for our customers and for our staff. We appreciate everyone’s patience and we are looking forward to being able to welcome customers into our store again.”

The ReStore will be operating with reduced hours in order to maintain public health requirements for a retail business. The ReStore will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm. The ReStore will be closed Sundays and Mondays. In addition to in-person shopping, customers who want to stay home can still purchase affordable quality new and gently used building materials and home furnishings through the online platform found at http://shop.habitatnorthumberland.ca.

While currently unable to accept donation pick-ups and drop-offs, the ReStore team is working to reintroduce those services in the coming weeks. The team truly appreciates everyone’s patience as they set-up a donation system that is safe and responsible for donors and staff.

Shopping at the ReStore is a socially conscious decision, as funds generated help Habitat for Humanity build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership in Northumberland County. Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is currently working on completing four homes locally. Revenue generated from the ReStore, including through the online platform, will help Habitat complete these four homes.

The ReStore is located at 764 Division Street in Cobourg and will be open to the public Tuesday to Saturday, from 11am-5pm. Questions regarding shopping at the ReStore should be directed to restore@habitatnorthumberland.ca or 289-252-0999.
