Five People Face By-Law Fines For Entering A Prohibited Area At Corbett’s Dam In Port Hope

A couple from Peterborough area and three others from the greater Toronto area received tickets for visiting Corbett’s dam in Port Hope on Sunday, April 5, 2020.

“We know it’s a tourist attraction, a lot of these people aren’t from our own community, but the park is clearly closed,” said Port Hope Police Constable Steve Austin.

“We don’t want you out. There is a reason for this.”

Austin said people congregating in parks is going to spread COVID-19.

The people were all charged with under the by-law with entering a prohibited area and carries a fine of $150 plus a surcharge of $30 which totals $180.
