Northumberland County State-of-Emergency Enforcement Outlined

In City Hall

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
One outcome of Tuesday’s announcement of a co-ordinated COVID-19 response among leaders in business, civics and all levels of government is the designation of an authority to enforce the state of emergency Ontario declared that same day.

Hamilton Township Mayor Bill Cane announced at Northumberland County council this week that Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lynn Noseworthy is the regional enforcement authority for that state of emergency on issues such as ensuring that those who should be self-isolating truly are.

Cane shared other news from the Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit, including their efforts to cut costs in 13 different areas. These range from reduced copying and printing costs to reducing beach-water testing at locations where there have not historically been water-quality issues.
