Three charities along Covert Street have closed as a result of COVID-19.

Beyond the Blue Box, Horizons of Friendship Thrift Store and the Northumberland Humane Society Thrift Store has closed up shop until further notice.

“The health and safety of our customers, staff and volunteers is of the utmost importance to us during this challenging time,” stated a sign on the door of Beyond the Blue Box.

“As COVID-19 spreads and is now officially a pandemic we are taking additional safety measures to do our best to protect everyone.”

Vice Chair of the Beyond the Blue Box board, Will Lambert and Executive Director Jane Stevenson and a small number of staff were on hand on Monday, March 16, 2020.

Both agreed, that these are unprecedented times but they have made the right choice to close for the time being.

As of Monday, all three stores have closed until further notice.
