ETFO Kawartha Pine Ridge Teachers to Participate in One-Day Strikes Wednesday and Thursday

Members of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) Kawartha Pine Ridge locals will participate in a one-day strike tomorrow February 5, as well as a province-wide strike of all ETFO members on Thursday, February 6. ETFO set a deadline of January 31 for reaching central agreements otherwise it would escalate rotating strikes across the province starting this week.

“These actions are meant to put continuing pressure on Ford and Education Minister Steven Lecce to reach a fair deal that addresses critical issues for students, educators and the future of public education,” said Teacher Local President Shirley Bell.

“We know this is a hardship for parents and students but we cannot let this government continue with its damaging cuts to public education,” said Occasional Teacher Local President Jen Deck. “The issues and programs we are fighting for today will have an impact on students now and for generations to come.”
