Breaking News – Weston Foods In Cobourg Is Closing Putting 180 People Out of Work

In Local

Weston Food employees were told at a plant meeting on Monday, January 13, 2020 at the plant at Northam Industrial Park that the plant will be closing in June 2020.

Cobourg Mayor john Henderson said he is “dismayed” after Today’s Northumberland broke the news to him about the closure at the 89,000 square foot facility.

Approximately 180 employees will be out of work by June 2020.

Speaking to employees outside the plant they said they were in shock upon hearing the news on Monday.

Some employees who have worked at the business since it opened approximately 25 years ago have family members working at the plant and are not sure what will happen next.

Manufacturing will be relocated to other bakeries in the Weston Food chain.

Today’s Northumberland will update the story as details become available.
