Haliburton Highlands OPP – Man Dies After Vehicle Goes Through Ice While Clearing Snow

In Police Blotter

One person has died after a vehicle went through the ice on December 14, 2019 north of Haliburton.

Central Region Community Relations Sgt Jason Folz said emergency services were dispatched to the area of Bushwolf Lake north of Haliburton at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday.

A 57-year-old male died after a pickup truck with a plow on the front was clearing snow when it broke through the ice.

“No ice is ever 100% safe,” adds Folz stating it is certainly early in the year to be out on the ice with any type of vehicle including a snowmobile.

The investigation is continuing and police have not released the man’s name pending notification of next of kin.
