Fifth Annual Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread Festival in Cobourg

A total of 75 gingerbread houses were up for raffles at the fifth annual Habitat for Humanity Northumberland Gingerbread Festival in Cobourg.

There were eight professionals and 67 community entries on display at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store on Division Street on Saturday, November 23, 2019.

People could purchase raffle tickets for their favourite gingerbread house and the raffles took place at 5 p.m.

There were also a number of categories for the judges including a professional baker, a Cobourg councillor and a member of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity Northumberland.

There were many elaborate gingerbread houses on display including a farm scene, Whoville complete with the Grinch going down the chimney and even a gingerbread house that had a display on the inside if you looked close enough.

One item that was not up for raffle was a gingerbread fireplace made Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity Northumberland, Healther Jopling.

Jopling said there was at least 12 gingerbread house kids, 12 boxes of gingersnaps, at least three boxes of graham crackers along with many more delicious treats in the making of the edible fireplace.
