Record Year for Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign In Support of Ed’s House

Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie campaign “Get a Smile Give a Smile” touched the community as residents purchased a record number of Smile Cookies in support of Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre.

Smile Cookies were sold at locations from Colborne to Port Hope during the week of September 16th to 22nd, with 100% of the proceeds for every Smile Cookie purchased being donated to Ed’s House. Tim Horton owners John and Kim Meeussen and Ron and Jeri Horton- Joyce are thrilled that their stores raised in total $42,410.00. “It was an incredible week and we are thrilled with the outstanding community support for the Smile Cookie campaign”, states local owners John Meeussen and Jeri Horton Joyce. Smile Cookie sales for the past two years have raised locally $73,000 in support of the new Hospice Care Centre.

“On behalf of Community Care Northumberland – Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, we extend our thanks to local Tim Horton owners John & Kim Meeussen, Ron & Jeri Horton Joyce and their staff for their outstanding support of Smile Cookie week,” states Trish Baird, Executive Director, Community Care Northumberland. “The Staff went above and beyond as orders for Smile Cookies exceeded all expectations. I also wish to extend thanks to all the volunteers who gave of their time at each Tim Horton’s spreading the word about the Smile Cookie campaign and Community Care’s – Ed’s House. There were over 88 volunteers that covered over 125 shifts during the Smile Cookie week. “

Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie sales across Canada topped a record $9.8 million dollars with the proceeds being distributed to over 550 local charities.

Ed’s House, Northumberland Hospice Care Centre will be a hospice hub providing care for people diagnosed with a life limiting illness and their families. Support will include end-of-life care, 24/7 in a hospice residence suite’s at no cost to those receiving the service. In addition, clients will continue to access current community hospice programs and outreach services. Ed’s House will be located in Hamilton Township on Ontario Street at Oliver’s Lane. The two-level building will include 10 Hospice Care suites, 6 operational at opening and 4 future suites with the lower level offering education, training and community support services for Hospice Services clients and families.
