From the 16th of September 2019 to the 22nd of September 2019, the Cobourg Police Service responded to 269 incidents which included:
35Theft calls, 5 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 6 Alarm calls, 1 Missing Person call, 2 Family Disturbance calls, 23 Suspicious Person calls,4 Fraud calls, 5 911 hang up calls, 5 Suspicious Vehicle call, 8 Assault calls, 2 Drug offences calls and 7 Domestic dispute calls.
Here are some examples of calls for service for the week;
Monday September. 16th
• Police located a female who had been missing from a local shelter for more than 24 hours. The female was escorted back to the shelter without incident.
• Police investigated four occurrences of items stolen from unlocked vehicles. Various items taken included small amounts of change and wallet with identification.
Tuesday September 17th
• Police attended the intersection of Division St. and University Avenue upon report of a light standard knocked over creating an electrical hazard in the intersection. Police believe a larger truck to be responsible for this incident. The involved vehicle fled the scene. Investigation continuing.
• Police attended the area of Willmott St. upon report of a male slumped over the steering wheel of a car. Upon arrival police determined the male to be suffering from medical distress. First aid was administered by police then EMS . The male was stabilized and transported to Northumberland Hills Hospital.
Wednesday September 18th
• Cobourg Police were called to assist in the area of Elgin and Ontario St. upon report of three large Liberal Election signs being lit on fire. The fire was extinguished by Cobourg Fire Dept. Investigation is continuing.
• Police were alerted to a female in distress near King &Spring St. Upon arrival police apprehended the female as she was unable to care for herself and suspected to be under the influence of a number of narcotics. The female was transported to NHH for care and assessment.
Thursday September 19th
• Police responded to a noise complaint that had been ongoing for a number of hours with a report of a male and female involved. Upon arrival police spoke with a female occupant who had been watching a movie with the volume turned up. Volume turned down upon police request.
• Police attended a West end residence upon report of a home entry that had recently occurred. Police are still attempting to determine a final list of all items missing but at least one long barrel rifle had been stolen. Investigation is continuing.
Friday September 20th
• Police attended a residence near Elgin & Ontario St. Upon report of someone attempting to gain entry to their garage after removing a screen. No entry was obtained. Investigation continuing.
• Police attended a local business upon report of a number of suspected stolen property items found strewn around the floor of the bathroom. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage in this matter.
Saturday September 21st 2019
• Police attended the area of peace Park as well as Tremaine Terrace regarding bylaw enforcement. One person was cautioned in regards to being in the park after posted closing time of 11:00 pm nightly.
• Police attended an area Motel upon report of a male having assaulted a female domestic partner. Upon completion of the investigation the male who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim was arrested and charged with two counts of Domestic Assault.
Sunday September 22nd, 2019
• Police were called as a result of numerous vehicle entries overnight in the area of Spencer St. Police arrested Andrew Drysdale of No Fixed Address after being alerted to him sleeping in one of the vehicles and subsequently found to be in possession of stolen property obtained from other recent vehicle entries.
• Police attended the area of Elgin &Darcy St. in regards to an ongoing neighbor dispute involving a complaint of CCTV cameras being pointed at the complainant’s residence. No criminal wrong doing found.
