Update – Fishing Boat Sinks At Cobourg Marina

In Editor Choice, Local

Update – the boat has been removed from the water as of 8 p.m.

A salvage crew has been called to the Cobourg Marina after a boat was discovered partially sunk on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

Marina staff were notified that a boat had partially sunk and called Cobourg Fire Department and the Coast Guard at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Coast Guard staff confirmed there was no one on the boat.

Because the boat was tied to the dock it didn’t sink further, but emergency services were still unable to use pumps on the boat.

The owner was notified of what happened and was on route to Cobourg, but was still several hours away.

Cobourg Environmental Services were also on scene.  Containment booms were set up around the area to collect any fuel that may have leaked from the vessel.

A salvage crew was also called to try and raise the boat.
