Northumberland OPP – Two Impaired Drivers Arrested in Trent Hills

On Saturday July 6, 2019 members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made two arrests in the Municipality of Trent Hills for impaired driving.

Just before 9:00 pm an officer responded to a traffic complaint of a black Mazda hatchback travelling northbound on County Road 50 in a manner that was described as swerving all over the road merely missing the ditches. Lorraine RUTLEDGE (age 57) of Emily Township Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

On the same evening just after 9:00 pm officers responded to a single vehicle in the ditch on Trent River Road near Morningside Drive. The male driver was found to have been consuming alcohol. Connor TRIGGS (age 22) of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both accused received an immediate 90 day licence suspension and the vehicles they were driving were towed and impounded. They were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on August 14, 2019.
