Oath Of Citizenship Ceremony Takes Place In Port Hope

Forty-four people from 16 different countries took the Oath of Citizenship in Memorial Park on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

A number of dignitaries including Deputy Grand Council Chief of Anishinabek Nation James Marsden, Alderville First Nation Councillor Julie Bothwell, MP Kim Rudd, MPP David Piccini and Port Hope Mayor Bob Sanderson were on hand for the ceremony that was presided by Judge Ivri.

The hour long ceremony began with members of the Cobourg Legion Pipe Band.

The 44-people raised their right hand and Judge Ivri also invited guests to reaffirm their commitment to Canada by repeating the Oath of Citizenship with the new Canadians.

After the Oath, one by one the new Canadians were handed their certificates and welcomed officially to their new home by the dignitaries.
