Registration has begun for spring programmimg at the Port Hope Northumberland Community Health Centre at 99 Toronto Rd., Port Hope.
And a wide range of programming it is, designed for all age groups.
A weekly series on mindfulness-based chronic-pain management begins April 3 at 1:30 p.m. (with a $100 fee to cover materials). There is also a series called Living A Healthy Life With Chronic Pain that begins April 24 at 1:30 (to register, call 1-866-971-5545).

Diabetes workshops are regularly organized. This month, there is an April 4 session on carb counting at 5 p.m. and two of their Just The Basics workshops – one at the centre April 18 at 5 p.m. and one off-site at the Cobourg Community Centre (750 D’Arcy St.) on April 10 at 9:30 a.m.

Support groups meet regularly at the centre. The monthly Stroke Survivor and Acquired Brain Injury Support Group meeting takes place April 6 at 10:30 am., with the Hoarding Support Group meeting April 11 at 5:30 p.m. and the Osteporosis Support Group on April 12 at 10 a.m.

There’s always something cooking at the centre, and each month brings a Souper Douper Lunch that runs from noon until the soup is gone. This month, the date is April 19.

Then its your turn to cook at the monthly diabetes-cooking workshop April 20 at 9:30 a.m. This month’s theme is Greek cuisine, and there’s a $2 fee for food costs. On April 27, there’s the Collective Cooking workshop at 1:30 p.m., offering communal cooking and nutrition information (with an $8 fee to cover food costs).

A Spring series of exercise workshops begins this month.
Monday Yoga For Beginners begins April 16 at 10 a.m., with Gentle Yoga classes following at 11:15 a.m. A $30 fee applies

Intermediate Gentle Yoga runs Wednesdays, starting April 11 at 5 p.m., with a $33 fee.

Pilates runs Thursdays, starting April 12 at 5:45 p.m., with a $33 fee.

Balance, Strengthen and Stretch runs Thursdays, starting April 12 at 4:30 p.m., with a $33 fee.

Chair Yoga runs Wednesdays, starting April 11 at 1 p.m., with a $33 fee.

Balance Fitness runs Mondays and Wednesdays at 1 p.m., starting April 4.

Active Fit and Fun has classes Wednesdays (starting April 11 at 10 a.m.) and Thursdays (starting April 12 at 10 a.m).

Nordic Pole Walking runs Mondays and Wednesdays at 4 p.m., starting April 16, with Tuesdays sessions also at 10 a.m.

On-going weekly programs are also in progress.
Mondays – The Women’s Wellness program at 1:30 p.m. offers fun, fellowship and various activities and speakers. A $2 fee applies.

Mondays and Wednesdays – Falls Prevention sessions run through June 27 at 2:15 p.m.

Tuesdays – The youth drop-in for ages 12 to 18 takes place off-site at the Jack Burger Sports Complex on Highland Drive from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
