Swift Water Rescue Training By Members Of The Trent Hills Fire Department

In Editorial, Local

Members of the Trent Hills Fire Department practiced their swift water rescue training along the Trent River just south of Lock 11 in Campbellford on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

It also gave new members a chance to familiarize themselves with the difficulty of throwing a throw bag (rescue line) at a victim who is moving fast down stream because of the water and rapids.

Firefighters lined the shoreline and as the “victim” sent by in the rapids members threw the line.

During the scenarios all members of the fire department along the shoreline were wearing personal flotation devices.
