Breaking News – MNR Charges Several Anglers With Trespassing Along Cobourg Creek

In Editor Choice, Local

With the opening of trout season kicking off on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 12:01 a.m. numerous anglers hit the streams and waterways around the Northumberland County area.

And along with the anglers, a number of Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Conservation Officers were keeping an eye on things patrolling the area looking for infractions.

On Sunday, April 28, 2019 at approximately 1 p.m., Conservation Officers were patrolling the area of Cobourg Creek just south of Elgin Street when they spotted several people trespassing on private property.  Conservation Officers were positioned on both sides of the creek, then converged on the anglers notifying them they would be receiving a ticket for trespassing.

Six Conservation Officers converged on the area and it’s believed over 10 people were charged with trespassing that carries a fine of $240.
A number of fish illegally caught were also seized from previous charges in the day.
