The investigation continues into the suspicious death of a man found in a hallway at an apartment building in Port Hope late Wednesday evening.
Tony MacDonald (age 52) was found deceased on the first floor of 50 Cavan Street at approximately 11:30 p.m.
MacDonald lived on the fifth floor of the apartment building with his wife of 28 years.
The couple have three children.
A post mortem is place today in Toronto on Friday, March 22, 2019.
The scene was released at the apartment building early Thursday evening.
Tenants in the building said police went door to door asking questions throughout the day on Thursday.
OPP Criminal Investigations Branch Detective Inspector Brad Robson who is in charge of the investigation said, “cooperation from the public has been excellent.”
Throughout Thursday as tenants were coming and going from the apartment building all described MacDonald as a very nice, genuine person who would help anyone.
“Tony was such a wonderful guy,” said one tenant.
“He would do anything for anybody – anything.”
The tenant said it will be very hard for the family moving forward.
“They were very close. They were so happy.”
Theodor Welch lives in the building and said he’s known MacDonald for approximately seven years.
When Welsh bought a Caprice Classic vehicle, MacDonald gave him a radio for the car along with other items.
“He was a super guy. There is nothing negative I could say about Tony.”
