Breaking News – City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Recommend Motorist Stay Home If Possible

In Local

The City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on scene of a collision involving 24 motor vehicles. As a result, Highway 7 is now closed between Omemee and Emily Park Road.

With the inclement weather creating whiteouts and slippery road conditions, the OPP has already responded to almost 20 collisions on roadways within the City of Kawartha Lakes. It is strongly recommended that motorists only drive if absolutely necessary.

If you are driving today be prepared for whiteout conditions and, remember to be patient, create distance between you and the vehicle in front, and ensure that you have a fully charged cell phone for emergency situations.
