Cobourg Police Traffic Initiative

The Cobourg Police Service will be conducting a traffic initiative starting on February 23rd 2019. The initiative will focus on traffic and pedestrian safety including the monitoring of compliance with drivers obeying traffic signals especially at high volume and high accident intersections. This initiative will start with intersections along the Elgin St. corridor. Drivers are reminded that driving safety should be paramount at all times but especially in the winter months when road conditions are not optimal.

Some examples of Highway Traffic penalties are as follows;
Red light – Fail to Stop/Proceed before green H.T.A. sec.144(18) $325.00 set fine & 3 demerit points.
Amber light – Fail to Stop H.T.A. sec.144(15) $180.00 set fine & 3 demerit points.
