Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual in connection with a sexual assault investigation in the Municipality of Brighton.
On August 20, 2026, police received a number of complaints regarding incidents that occurred at a business on Young Street from May 28 to August 12, 2026.
The Northumberland Crime Unit continued the investigation and, as a result, an individual was taken into custody on August 24, 2026.
Jalil AHMED (53) of Cobourg has been charged with:
– Sexual assault
– Voyeurism – two counts
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in C obourg in September 2026.
