Warrant Arrest/Theft
A man arrested on an outstanding warrant earlier in the day is facing additional charges after police investigated theft on Friday.
On August 21, 2026, police arrested a 36-year-old Oshawa man on the strength of an outstanding warrant. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
A short time later, at approximately 12:45 p.m., police received a report of a theft at a business in the area of King Street and Spring Street in Cobourg. As a result of the investigation, the same man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a probation order. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Intoxicated in a Public Place
On August 21, 2026, police received a report of a man consuming alcohol in public in the area of James Street West and Spring Street in Cobourg.
As a result of the investigation, a 70-year-old Cobourg man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.
Multiple Charges Resulting from Family Dispute
A 19-year-old Cobourg man is facing multiple charges following a family dispute.
On August 23, 2026, police received a report of a disturbance at a residence in Cobourg.
Investigation revealed that a verbal argument within the home escalated, resulting in damage to property and threats being made.
On August 24, 2026, police responded to a second incident involving the same individual after they returned to the residence and allegedly threatened to damage the property when denied entry. Further damage was caused to the home before police arrived and took the individual into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old Cobourg resident was charged with two counts of Mischief Under $5,000, two counts of Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Uttering Threats to Damage Property, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Cobourg Woman Charged with Theft and Fail to Comply
A 37-year-old Cobourg woman is facing multiple charges following a shoplifting incident at a local business.
On August 24, 2026, at approximately 2:15 p.m., police responded to a report of shoplifting at a business in the area of Strathy Road in Cobourg. Staff reported that a woman selected merchandise and left the store without paying.
As a result of the investigation, police located a 37-year-old Cobourg woman at a nearby business and placed her under arrest. The accused was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and two counts of Failure to Comply with a Probation Order. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Cobourg Man Charged with Intimate Partner Violence
A 26-year-old Cobourg man is facing multiple charges following an intimate partner violence incident.
On August 24, 2026, at approximately 4:55 p.m., police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance in the area of Division Street and Covert Street in Cobourg after witnesses reported that a verbal altercation had escalated between two individuals.
As a result of the investigation, police determined that one individual had allegedly prevented the other from leaving the area and subsequently assaulted them during the incident. A 26-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Intimidation, Assault (Spousal), and failing to comply with probation. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
