Community members are invited to come together for an inspiring evening dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and empowering individuals and families affected by breast cancer.

Taking place Wednesday, October 7 from 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m. at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope, Stronger Together: Stay ABreast will feature powerful stories from local individuals who have experienced breast cancer: from the uncertainty of diagnosis and treatment to the resilience of survivorship. Tickets are now on sale through the Capitol Theatre’s website for $55 per person.

Featured speakers Jennifer, who is currently undergoing treatment, and Sandy, a breast cancer survivor, will share their personal journeys, offering hope, encouragement, and connection to others affected by the disease. Their stories will be complemented by healthcare and wellness professionals who will share information about breast health services, resources, and supports available throughout every stage of the breast cancer journey.

Hosted in partnership by Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation and the Survivor Thrivers, this evening will additionally serve as a fundraiser for both organizations, with proceeds helping to modernize the breast health program at NHH as well as helping the Survivor Thrivers purchase a new dragon boat for their team of local individuals living with a breast cancer diagnosis.

“This is more than a fundraiser,” shares Rhonda Cunningham, NHH Foundation CEO. “This event will bring together those touched by breast cancer, healthcare and wellness professionals, and supporters in a powerful show of community. Together, we can raise awareness and invest in the future of local breast healthcare.”

Investments to be made to help modernize NHH’s breast health program include:
1. A new 3D mammography unit
2. An ultrasound machine
3. A bone mineral density scanner
4. Wire-free breast tissue localization technology

By attending, participants will help raise awareness, strengthen local breast cancer care, and support those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.
Sponsorship opportunities and tickets are now available and additional event details can be found at NHHFoundation.ca/StrongerTogether. Those interested in sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to contact Cunningham at rcunningham@nhh.ca or 905-377-7767.
