Video – Photo Gallery – Sand, Sunset and Surprises Await Along Cobourg’s West Beach

Visitors strolling along the west beach in Cobourg are being treated to a small but memorable surprise this spring.

As part of a creative initiative by Experience Cobourg, a series of tiny handcrafted “little houses” have been placed along the shoreline, stretching from Hibernia Street to Ontario Street. The miniature structures, built by Rodney Bergeron, are made using materials collected directly from the beach—driftwood, stones, and other natural finds.

The result is a whimsical addition to an already scenic walk.

“It’s a simple, creative experience that adds a little magic to your walk,” Experience Cobourg shared on social media.

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, beachgoers enjoyed ideal conditions for exploring. With mild temperatures and the sound of waves along the shore, visitors took their time searching for the tiny homes tucked into the landscape—each one offering its own unique character.

For many, the experience became more than just a walk. It turned into a quiet treasure hunt, encouraging people to slow down and take in their surroundings.

The day ended in fitting fashion, with a vivid sunset casting warm colours across Lake Ontario—bringing a peaceful close to an already memorable outing.

Whether you’re out for fresh air, a scenic stroll, or a touch of creativity, Cobourg’s west beach is offering something a little extra this season.
