The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) girls ‘A/AA’ hockey championship is being hosted this year by Cobourg’s St. Mary Catholic Secondary School.

The provincial high school championship tournament will extend beyond Cobourg, though, when the games are played Tuesday through Thursday.

Both rinks – the Bowl and Grace Bowen arenas – will be used at the Cobourg Community Centre with games also scheduled at the Baltimore Recreation Centre and Port Hope’s Jack Burger Sports Complex.

The host St. Mary Thunder, ranked ninth out of the 16 teams competing, play twice on Tuesday, starting with a 10 a.m. matchup against No. 6 St. Mark HS from the Ottawa area at the CCC Bowl.

In the afternoon, St. Mary will face No. 4 Georgian Bay DSS at 2 p.m. in Baltimore.

Wednesday at 10 a.m., the Thunder will face the No. 15 E.S.C Theriault from Timmins at the CCC Bowl.

The quarterfinals are scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, at 2 p.m. in Baltimore, Port Hope and the CCC Bowl and 2:15 p.m. at the CCC Grace Bowen Arena.

On Thursday, the semifinals will be at the CCC – one starting at 8 a.m. in the Bowl and the other at 8:15 a.m. at the Grace Bowen Arena.

In the afternoon, game time for the gold medal game is 1 p.m. with the bronze medal contest to begin shortly after at 1:15 p.m. in the Grace Bowen Arena.
