Northumberland County Announces Dan Borowec as New CAO

In City Hall, Local

Northumberland County is appointing Dan Borowec as the new Chief Administrative Officer, approximately one-year after he retired from the County.

Borowec served as Director of Economic Development, Planning & Strategic Initiatives with the County for over a decade before retiring in January 2025. He spearheaded the Eastern Ontario Development program, established the Ontario Agri-Food Venture Centre in Colborne, secured funding and partnerships to significantly expand local broadband access, and secured millions of dollars in investments for Northumberland.

“Dan has a deep understanding of the County’s operations along with the broader legislative and economic contexts in which the County operates,” states Warden Bob Crate. “He has extensive experience leading complex, multi-partner initiatives and delivering results that strengthen our local economy and community. With his proven ability to secure investment, build strategic partnerships, and execute Council’s vision, Dan is well-suited to take on the role of Chief Administrative Officer. Council looks forward to the progress the organization will achieve under his leadership.”

Mr. Borowec’s first day will be March 2, 2026, ensuring a period of transition with Acting CAO Glenn Dees prior to Mr. Dees’ departure on March 13.
