Northumberland Hills Hospital this week launched a new main-floor Stroke Recovery Clinic.
This new service will offer multidisciplinary stroke-rehabilitation services to stroke patients aged 18 and older who have been discharged from NHH, or referred from area providers,

“This clinic brings together a multidisciplinary approach to ensure individuals recovering from a stroke can access vital rehabilitation services – namely physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology – close to home,” President and Chief Executive Officer Susan Walsh said in the announcement.

“The Stroke Recovery Clinic is another initiative that is guided by NHH’s Experience Framework, dedicated to improving our patient experience and providing exceptional and accessible care.”

Located on 1A in the Patient Rehabilitation Gym, the new Stroke Recovery Clinic welcomed its first patients Feb. 24. Its hours of operation will be Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ontario residents will be eligible who are at least 18 years of age, are living safely at home (or in a retirement home), have experienced and are recovering from a stroke within the past year, are willing and able to participate in an intensive therapy program, have achievable and meaningful rehabilitation goals, require one or more of the disciplines offered to support goals related to the impact of their stroke.

Referring area providers have been made aware of the service, and more information is available at nhh.ca in the Patient Services tab under Outpatient Care.
