Belleville Police Service – Man Arrested in Sexual Assault Investigation (Name Released)

A 46-year-old Belleville man has been arrested as a result of a sexual assault investigation that commenced in the early morning hours of February 6th.

Throughout the investigation it was learnt that the victim met the suspect through an online dating app.

On February 7th, members of the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigation Division and Emergency Response Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the city’s east end. As a result, Danny Arsenault, 46-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:

· Sexual assault with a weapon

· Unauthorized possession of a weapon

· Assault

· Forcible confinement

He was held for a bail hearing.

Police are concerned that the suspect may have been engaging with other individuals online and may have more victims who have yet to come forward. Possible victims or anyone with information in regard to this investigation are asked to contact D/Cst. Boulay at aboulay@bellevilleps.ca.
