Video – Photo Gallery – It’s a True Canadian Winter As The Snow Just Keeps Coming

In Local, Photo Gallery, Weather

It maybe wasn’t as bad as what it was predicted to be, but we still got slammed with another blanket of snow starting on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Social media lit up with the pending storm, events were cancelled, municipalities issued numerous releases.

At the harbourfront in Port Hope high winds were the first sign of things to come with the storm.

Then the snow and wind, and snow came.

Near whiteout conditions in some areas of Northumberland County.

Just a few kilometres apart seemed to make the difference to the amount of snow.

Cobourg and Hamilton Fire Departments were called out to a collision on Highway 401 shortly before 11 p.m.

There were no serious injuries.

There were other minor collisions and vehicles in the ditch. One tow truck even needed assistance after getting stuck.

The Town of Cobourg issued a release stating no vehicles were allowed to be parked overnight on the streets.

Most people got the message – but some vehicles were left on the roadway and received tickets amounting to $70.00.

Public Works crews worked through the night doing their best to keep main streets cleared of the snow.

The side streets were a different story. Driving down some streets, drifts of snow rolled over the hood of cars creating zero visibility.

As night turned to day, another beautiful blanket of snow covered the area.

Walking over the snow covered bridge in Peace Park, one angler seemed to have Cobourg Creek to himself amongst the waterfowl.

Throughout the town although the main arteries were cleared of snow, it was evident there were still work to be done on the side roads.

The noise of snowblowers echoed along the quiet side streets.

Two friends seemed to be enjoying their walk along the streets in the east end of Cobourg.

It’s a true Canadian winter.

Workers may not have much of a break with advisories for snow squalls on Tuesday.
