Working through the night ice continued to jam in Port Hope along the Ganaraska River. On Wednesday morning another jam crested the river south of Roberston Street pushing the ice onto Queen Street on the west side of the river and onto Mill Street South on the east side of the river. One basement was flooding as a result of the high water levels. Another excavator was brought in and the two excavators worked on clearing the ice where it started near the boat launch in Port Hope. Once the ice started to flow it took approximately seven minutes for the ice jam to be clear and the ice make it’s way into Lake Ontario. With the ice being cleared in the river there are expected to be no further problems this year due to the ice jams.
