The Municipality of Brighton remains committed to pursuing strategic funding opportunities to support key projects outlined in its 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. Throughout 2025, the Municipality has successfully secured over $35,029,221 in external grant funding.
Following a series of comprehensive application processes, seven funding applications were confirmed as successful, including:
· $34,978,397 from the Ontario Government, delivered through the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, to support the build of a new modern mechanical sewage treatment plan, creating more housing opportunities, while investing in critical municipal infrastructure.
· $16,822 from the Ontario Government Fire Protection Grant to support the purchase of new personal protective equipment (PPE) for Brighton Fire and Rescue, ensuring first responders continue to have essential equipment that meets the regulations governed under the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
· $4,000 from the Brighton Legions Lady’s Auxiliary to purchase a fully equipped first responders’ medical bag, in addition to a Split Ferno Basket, guaranteeing high priority patient care when responding to medical calls in remote areas.
· $10,000 from the Canadian Heritage Grant Fund to support the Canada Day festival at King Edward Park. This successful annual event welcomed thousands of residents for a day of celebration, community, and Canadian pride.
· $800 from the Brian Todd Memorial Community Fund to purchase play equipment for children at the Brighton Public Library.
· $9,202 from the Canada Summer Jobs Grant to support student employment positions in the departments of Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Downtown Business Improvement Association, and the Brighton Public Library.
· $10,000 through the Hydro One Ice Storm 2025: Recovery Grant. The grant supported clean up and recovery efforts following the spring ice storm.
