The first day of the three day Canadian International Air Show kicked off on Saturday, August 30, 2025 along Toronto’s shoreline.

The CIAS is North America’s longest running air show with this year being the 76th edition.

Julie Mailhot, Chair of the Board of the Canadian International Air Show spoke to Today’s Northumberland before the noon start and said this years show is focusing on Canadian aircraft including the CP-140 Aurora, CH-146 Griffon Search and Rescue helicopter.

Highlights as always are the thunderous roar of the CF-18 fighter jet along with the USAF F-35 Demo team and of course ending the show, as always is the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.

The mission of the Canadian International Air Show is always to celebrate aviation by honouring it’s past and inspiring its future by showcasing the best of aviation both vintage and modern including civilian and military aircraft.

Thousands of people line the shorelines of Toronto watching the annual Labour Day Weekend event marking the end of the summer.

“Every year we get thousands and thousands of people with people coming from all over the world. With the skyline of Toronto, the lake, and it’s a fabulous day and the weather has been fantastic for the last few years.”
