Cobourg Police – Incidents Include Shoplifting, Mischief, Fail to Comply, Impaired (No Names Released)

A 36-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after shoplifting was reported at a local business.

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., police received a report of shoplifting at a business in the area of King Street West in Cobourg. A woman entered the business, selected merchandise, and left the store without paying for the items.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, August 8, a 36-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, and Failure to Comply with Probation.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.


A Cobourg man is facing charges after police were called to a disturbance on Sunday.

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at approximately 12:30 am, police were called to a residential area for sounds of a heated dispute.  Officers arrived to hear a crying inside and made entry to ensure her safety.

Police learned that a verbal dispute had escalated, and a man had smashed the woman’s cellphone and television.  The 35-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property – Spousal, and three counts of Failure to Comply with Probation.  He was released on an Undertaking with a future court date.


A 65-year-old Roseneath woman is facing impaired charges as a result of a traffic stop on Sunday night.

On Sunday, August 11, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling on Division Street weaving in the lane, striking the curb several times. A traffic stop was conducted.

As a result of the police investigation, the driver, a 65-year-old Roseneath woman, was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus).  The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
