Cobourg Police – Investigating Vehicle Entries in Cobourg’s West End

Four days after numerous vehicles were entered in Cobourg’s west end, Cobourg Police have issued a press release.

Social media on Tuesday indicated vehicles had been entered including a photo of at least one vehicle that had their window broken to gain entry.

On Friday, August 8, 2025, police issued a released about the incident that happened sometime overnight on Monday, August 4th.

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, police received a report in the area of Caddy Drive and Wilkins Gate in Cobourg. The homeowner found that their vehicle window was smashed. A bag appeared to have been rummaged through, but nothing was taken from the vehicle. While officers were canvassing for witnesses and video, they located another vehicle with a door ajar in the same area.  An engine control module was reported missing.

Police were later called to the area of Carlisle Street for another theft from a vehicle.  The complainant advised their driver’s licence and bank cards had been taken.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information, dashcam, or security camera footage of the areas is asked to call the police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.

Police encourage everyone to lock their car doors and remove valuables from their vehicles even when parked at home. Always report suspicious activity to police.
