City of Belleville – Introducing New Noise By-law

In City Hall, Local

The City of Belleville is pleased to introduce the new Noise By-law (By-law 2025-122) which will take effect tomorrow (Aug. 1).

This new-and-improved by-law was created under the guidance of the By-law Review Ad Hoc Committee who had been tasked with reviewing and updating the Clean Yards, Littering, Noise, Property Standards, and Short-Term Accommodations by-laws. After gathering feedback from the community on the former Noise By-law (By-law 2011-180) and careful consideration, the following changes have been implemented:

· General languages changes to improve readability and understanding.

· Creation of a new Noise Reporting Package for those wishing to report disturbances (available online or in person on the first floor of Belleville City Hall).

· Changes to requirements for noise exemption permits which will streamline requests.

· Creation of a new online Noise Exemption Request Form.
