Northumberland OPP – Incidents Include Assault, Mischief, Impaired

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a number of individuals over the weekend.

Hamilton Township Man Facing Charges of Assault, Mischief, Assault with a Weapon

On May 1, 2025, at around 7:45 p.m., Peterborough and Northumberland OPP responded to a family dispute at a residence on Hannah Road in the Township of Hamilton. It was reported that an individual was in possession of an edged weapon and was causing damage to the home.

Police arrived at the location where the person had left the location. One of the individuals involved was treated for minor injuries by Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Members from the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit (K9) were also dispatched to assist with the investigation.

The accused was located nearby and taken into custody. A 35-year-old male, from the Township of Hamilton, has been charged with:

– Assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle

– Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

– Assault with a weapon

– Mischief under $5,000.

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. They shall not be named to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Roseneath Man Charged with Assault Bodily Harm, Impaired

On May 2, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance involving the occupants of a pick-up truck on Sandercock Road in Roseneath.

Officers located an unoccupied vehicle matching the description provided and began an investigation into the incident. Police were able to speak with the occupants at a nearby address and began an intimate partner violence investigation along with an impaired operation investigation. The victim attended a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, a 34-year-old male, from Roseneath, was arrested and charged with:

– Assault causing bodily harm – spousal

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

– Possess more than one licence.

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. They shall not be named to protect the identity of the victim. A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
