Belleville Police Services – Assault and Resist Charges

On the 19th of March at 1:30pm, a female while out for a run on College St W. was accosted by a male.

The female was running on the sidewalk when she observed a male known to her walking towards her.

She knows the male to have erratic behaviour so she moved off the sidewalk and began to run on the road to allow for a safe distance between them.

The male proceeded to raise his fists in the air and physically chase after the female while shouting at her.

The female while trying to get away, tripped and fell on the roadway.

In the end, the female was able to get away from the male. She suffered minor injuries.

Police were contacted.

At 2:01pm, officers located the suspect and following a brief foot pursuit, officers placed him under arrest.

The 30-year-old Belleville man was charged with one count of assault and one count of resisting arrest.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
