Breaking News – Video – Train Collides with Vehicle at Railway Crossing in Cobourg

In Local, Police Blotter

One person was taken to hospital after a train struck a vehicle in Cobourg early Thursday morning.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. emergency services were dispatched to the area of Brook Road North of a train that collided with a vehicle.

Shortly after it was determined the collision was actually at the D’Arcy Street crossing and emergency vehicles attended the scene.

It appears one vehicle was heading southbound on D’Arcy Street when it was struck by a westbound CN freight train.

Damage to the vehicle indicates it was struck in the rear portion with debris scatted across the area including CP tracks.

Paramedics transported the lone occupant of the vehicle to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Crossings at both Brook Road North and D’Arcy Street were blocked until approximately 9 a.m.

The freight train managed to stop just east of Division Street.

The crossing has been a frustration for drivers as signals malfunction two times recently.
