Video – Rail Crossing Malfunction in Cobourg

In Local, Police Blotter

Cobourg Police Service is advising the public that a number of rail crossing barricades in Cobourg were malfunctioning on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

Police stated the incident happened starting at approximately 4:30 p.m. with crossings at Burnham Street, Ontario Street and D’Arcy Street.

At least one driver was cautioned on D’Arcy Street for crossing the tracks with their vehicle while the signals were activated.

At 9 p.m. police advised Ontario Street and D’Arcy Street crossings were reopened. The rail crossing barricade at Burnham Street (near King Street) remains down.

Barriers have been put in place until repaired. For everyone’s safety, motorists and pedestrians are urged to avoid these crossings and use alternative routes until further notice. The rail crossing at Brook Road North is functioning normally and can be used as an alternative.

A team is working to resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
