Video – Fishing Season Starts in Port Hope

In Local, Photo Gallery

For the first time this season, fishing was open for anglers through downtown Port Hope.

From September 1, 2024 through to October 14, 2024 fishing from the CNR bridge to the Jocelyn Street bridge was closed.

But on Tuesday, it was once again open and a number of anglers visited Port Hope.

It didn’t take long for any of the anglers to catch the salmon and a few rainbow.

Some kept the salmon and rainbow, while others were returned to the river.

One angler was even spotted walking along the Ganaraska River with his catch, a brown trout, tucked in his boot.

Thankfully he didn’t catch a salmon at that time.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry officers were checking licenses of the anglers and making sure they were complying with the regulations.
