Northumberland Walk for the Wounded takes place on Saturday, August 17, 2024 with participants walking from Hastings to Northumberland OPP Detachment in Cobourg.

Northumberland OPP and other members of the community, are spearheading the event in an effort to raise awareness on mental health and how the Walk For The Wounded organization helps transition members of the Canadian Armed Forces and First Responders to civilian life.

“Veterans helping veterans is a cornerstone for walk for the wounded, which is dedicated to putting mental health at the forefront to reduce the number of those who struggle in silence,” said Northumberland OPP Constable James Clarke.

On top of the 42 km walk to Cobourg while wearing a 22lb vest, OPP will be doing 22 push-ups every hour on the hour.

There will be around 25 participants this year and they will begin before 4am.
