Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 197 calls for service between 5:00 am on August 09, 2024 to 5:00 am on August 12, 2024.
Disturbance leads to arrest
On the 10th of August at 6:02am, Belleville Police responded to an unwanted person call at a business on Church St near Station St. Upon arrival, police learned that a male had been refusing to leave the premises and while doing so he began to cause a disturbance inside the building and throwing rocks while outside. The male was also breaching a condition of his Probation Order. As a result, 29-year-old John Crawford of Marmora was arrested and charged with causing a disturbance and breaching his Probation Order. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in September.
Assault with a weapon
On the 11th of August at 12:34am, Belleville Police responded to a business on North Front St for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, police spoke to the victim who advised that while in the washroom of the business, she was struck in the head with a glass bottle by another female. The victim suffered minor injuries. Police identified and arrested the suspect who was still present at the business. As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Gairy-Ann Brown of Belleville was charged with assault with a weapon. She was released on an Undertaking with a court date in September.
Arrested on Warrant
On the 11th of August at 2:51am, Belleville Police responded to an address on Mineral Rd for a report of an unwanted person. Police attended and identified the male. Police learned that the 50-year-old male of no fixed address was wanted on an arrest warrant by the Cobourg Police Service. As a result, the male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and turned over to the Cobourg Police Service without incident.
Speed Enforcement Cameras – Spray painted
On the 11th of August at 2:33am, Belleville Police were notified by a citizen that the Speed Enforcement Camera on Sidney had been spray painted black.
Later in the day, police were further notified that the Speed Enforcement Camera on Harder Dr had also been spray painted black. The investigation into the incidents is continuing. Belleville Public Works was notified in order to remove the paint. Anyone with information regarding the mischief is requested to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882 or Quinte Crime Stoppers.
