Video – Life’s A Beach for Tourists Visiting Cobourg

In Local, Weather

Life is a beach for many people who visit Cobourg during the summer months.

On Sunday, July 28, 2024 the beach near the shoreline was packed with sun worshipers.

Everyone including a dog was having a blast along the shoreline.

On the water, it was great to see people wearing personal floatation devices as they had fun on Lake Ontario.

A number of youths were also enjoying jumping in the water to cool off along the east pier.

Not everyone was relaxing though, Parks Department staff were making sure things were as clean as possible along the beach by checking and emptying garbage calls along the walkway.

One thing that was also noticeable, since Today’s Northumberland last reported the Cobourg Police trailer at the campground wasn’t being staffed this summer because the YIPI (Youth in Policing Initiative) wasn’t in operation, the trailer has since been removed from the campground, along with the AED Automatic External Defibrillator.

For the second year there are also no lifeguards watching over the thousands of people along the beach.

If there was an emergency, it’s unknown where the nearest AED would be located.
