Peterborough Police – Attempted Murder Arrest (No Name Released)

Attempted Murder Arrest

A man wanted in connection with an attempted murder over the weekend has been arrested.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, officers with the Peterborough Police Service along with the PPS Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrested a 22-year-old Peterborough man in the Bancroft area.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, a 22-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Attempt Murder
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Unauthorized Possession of prohibited firearm
  • Trafficking in firearms

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court tomorrow, June 20, 2024.

A second man determined to be involved after the fact was located Tuesday evening and arrested.

A 20-year-old Peterborough man was charged with:

  • Accessory after the fact to commit indictable offence
  • Obstruct Justice
  • Unauthorized Possession of prohibited firearm
  • Trafficking in firearms
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order
  • Possess firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, June 19, 2024.

The Peterborough Police Service would also like to thank their colleagues with the OPP Tactical Response Unit for their assistance.

In order to protect the victim in this domestic incident, the names of the accused will not be released.
