In Community, Local, Police Blotter

A third GoFundMe has been started for the third victim in a horrific collision north of Cobourg on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. emergency services including Northumberland OPP, Northumberland County Paramedics, Hamilton Township Fire Department and Alnwick/Haldimand Township Fire Department responded to the area of County Road 45 near Dunbar Road.

Debris littered the roadway after a head-on collision took place on the roadway.

One vehicle came to rest on the roadway and another was in the west ditch.

At least two people had to be extricated from their vehicles.

The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger were confirmed deceased. Two other passengers were transferred to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

County Road 45 was closed for several hours between County Road 22 and Beagle Club Road for the investigation.

At the scene of the collision the next day, green marks can been seen on the road from OPP investigators and a memorial with a number of flowers and a chocolate Easter bunny have been placed on the west side of the road.

GoFundMe’s have been started for the Hailey Nixon and Chris Lount who were also killed in the collision.

Logan Martin, Owen Boyd and Hayden Ferguson started the GoFundMe for their friend Tyler Henderson who was known as “Shag” who was 19-years-old.

“His life was tragically taken from us on March 28 in a horrific automobile accident.”

The three friends described Shag as a loyal and complete wild card.

“No matter what if Shag was around you know something was gonna be crazy, and make the best memories possible. He had built himself from the ground and had made a life for himself. He was finally on his feet about to have his first chance at a successful life when he was sadly taken from us.”

The three friends ask people to be “generous, kind and supportive in this difficult time.”

“Help us give him the proper goodbye he so deserves.”

“RIP brother and turn heaven upside down! Until we meet again!!”
