Peterborough County OPP – Hanky Panky In Vehicle Leads to Collision and Charges (No Name Released)

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover on County Road 2 in Asphodel-Norwood Township.

On Sunday February 18, 2024, at approximately 9:00 pm, the Peterborough County OPP received a call regarding a vehicle that had left the roadway rolling over into the ditch on County Road 2. Asphodel Fire & Rescue, Lindsay Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and ORNGE Air also responded to th e incident due to the severity of the crash. Both driver and passenger sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital.

Investigation revealed the driver and passenger were attempting sexual intercourse while the vehicle was in motion resulting in the collision. The driver then stated that they saw a deer in the roadway, causing the driver to steer of the road and crash into a tree. During the conversation with the driver, officers detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath.

As a result of the investigation, the 20-year-old driver was arrested and charged with,

  • Dangerous operation
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C. above zero.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a later date.
