Peterborough County OPP – Driver Stated He Was Drugged Before Collision Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

A driver who initially contacted EMS has been charged with Impaired driving after their vehicle went in the ditch on Chemong Road.

On February 16, 2024, shortly after 9:30pm, the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from EMS advising of a possible impaired driver. EMS stated they were contacted by an individual who said they had been drugged while drinking at a friend’s house but then left in a vehicle.

A short time later, a concerned citizen called advising that a vehicle was in the ditch on Chemong Road and the driver, who they believed was impaired, was in the middle of the road blocking traffic.

Officers arrived on scene and took the individual into custody. The officers spoke with the driver and determined that they were impaired. As a result of the investigation the driver was arrested.

Joshua HENDERSON (age 33) of Bobcaygeon, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 26, 2024.
