Cobourg Police – Cobourg Woman Charged with Uttering Threats, Four Counts of Assault Peace Officer and Fail to Comply (No Name Released)

A 37-year-old Cobourg woman arrested on the strength of outstanding warrants is facing assault peace officer charges after being combative during an arrest.

On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at approximately 8:50 a.m., police in the area of Burke Street and Mathew Street in Cobourg observed an individual known to be wanted on several outstanding warrants with the police service.

When police engaged with the individual, they became agitated and combative, uttering threats toward the officers. The individual clawed at an officer’s face and spat on two others during the arrest.

As a result, the 37-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested on the strength of the warrant and charged with Uttering Threats- Cause Death or Bodily Harm, assault with intent to resist arrest, four counts of assault a Peace Officer, fail to attend, and failing to comply with an undertaking.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
