Peterborough County OPP – Driver Charged with Providing False Name (Name Released)

In Police Blotter

An officer from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after providing a false name at a stop.

On Wednesday July 8, 2026, at approximately 9:30pm, officers from the Peterborough County OPP were conducting a RIDE check in Ennismore. A vehicle entered the RIDE checkpoint and the driver failed to provide their driver’s licence, instead providing verbal identification. After speaking with the driver, the officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The results of the ASD led to the arrest of the driver who was then transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment.

Once at the detachment, it was determined that the identity originally provided was not accurate.

Christopher MCGLENNON (age 56) of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON., was arrested and charged with;

• Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice

• Operation while prohibited

• Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was also charged with several offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).

The accused was held for Bail.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
