A one-of-a-kind watercraft turned plenty of heads in Cobourg Harbour this week, drawing curious onlookers who couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

At first glance, the sleek vessel looked like a Chevrolet Corvette cruising across the water. In reality, it was a high-performance jet boat.

Perry Sempecos, who owns the rights to Watersportscar Canada, brought the Corvette-inspired jet boat to Cobourg Harbour on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, as he works to establish dealerships across Canada.

The company manufactures a range of luxury-inspired jet boats designed to resemble some of the world’s most recognizable vehicles, including Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, McLaren and even a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon capable of carrying up to six passengers.

“They handle really, really well,” said Sempecos. “You can turn on a dime with these things—it’s incredible.”

Unlike a personal watercraft, Sempecos said the boats offer a completely different driving experience. Depending on the model, they are powered by engines producing between 260 and 460 horsepower and can reach speeds of up to 120 km/h.

Prices range from approximately $60,000 to $150,000, with buyers able to customize their boats with features such as roofs and even functional doors.

Although Sempecos is usually found boating on Lake Huron, he wanted to experience Lake Ontario and chose Cobourg Harbour for a test run.

The unique craft immediately attracted attention.

“As soon as it hit the water, there were a lot of people taking pictures, stopping and asking if it’s amphibious,” he said.

While it certainly looks like it could drive straight onto land, Sempecos was quick to clarify that it is not amphibious—it’s a jet boat built purely for the water.

“They’re pretty neat,” he said. “The handling is so good, I can’t explain it—it’s just so good.”
